Art Week in Miami, Dec 2021

Art week in Miami was such a fun experience that it is now on our list of go-to events every year!

Aside from the many mini conventions that were a part of the event, this year was made particularly special because NFT’s are entering into the mainstream as well as the fine art space with quite a bit of fanfare. Digital art is no longer fringe or niche for things like CGI in movies. It is finally being recognized for the unique skill set it is and stands strong amongst more traditional mediums on display.

Every bit of the week was packed with visual stimulation. So much so that it is hard to recount all the wonderful things we saw. That being said, there are two I would like to recognize as particularly amazing.

First up, the wonderful artist, Masako Miki. She is Japanese native, residing in California and represented by CULT Aimee Friberg Exhibitions. Masako’s work exudes joy and fun. Her sculptures in textiles as well as bronze are inspired by Japanese folklore, spirits and our own shapeshifting characteristics.

Next up, we have the Best in Show winner from the Design Week Miami convention - ATRA Form, and more specifically the Resonate Chair. A particular stroke of collaboration genius, the Resonate Chair was designed by Alexander Díaz Andersson and the infused with the techonogly from Resonate. The resulting product is something you must experience. It’s like a float tank for your living room…Or quiet room, in your corporate space.

It’s a meditation chair, but somehow more, as it pulls on all the senses we need as humans to relax. The ergonomics, the textiles, vibration, sound and light control are all working together to enhance your theta waves and melt the world away. We cannot say enough good things about this piece of furniture. It hits our sweet spot for fusion between fashion and technology and it’s executed brilliantly.

Enjoy.
